Mark: I’m So Glad I Came Out
It was 2 years ago that Mark Feehily, the member of WestLife band, came out as a gay man. Mark Feehily has revealed he is gay as family and bandmates were already aware of his sexuality. It doesn’t change his life after came out to public, his music hit the top of chart again.
AFTER ten years at the top – during which they have sold an incredible 40million albums worldwide – Westlife are heading to No1 again with new album Back Home. Here, in Day Two of her exclusive chat with the band during a night out with them in Dublin, VICTORIA NEWTON hears from Mark Feehily and Kian Egan.
Honestly, I think he has done the best thing in his life because this would relief all the pressure that he got all the time when his album climb to the number one, but he can’t being himself. Yes, he was dating with his boyfriend for 2 years already.
MARK FEEHILY says his decision to announce to the world that he is gay is the best thing he has ever done.
The WESTLIFE star, 27, had kept his sexuality a secret for years while the band climbed to the top and went on to notch 14 No1 singles and six No1 albums.
His close friends and family knew the truth but Mark hadn’t told his legions of fans until he came out in a Sun interview with me in August 2005.
I know that it’s not an easy task to came out to public especially you are a celebrity, except someone/media force you to do that. It happened to Lance Bass from NSYNC.

The funny part in this news of Mark
Mark has earned himself a ban from the trendy Mondrian Hotel in LA, home to the infamous celeb hangout the Skybar.
Apparently he had had a little too much to drink and decided to throw things out of the hotel window.
His bandmates were not impressed — especially Shane, whose room he was in at the time.
Shane told me: “I was in my room with my wife when there was a knock at the door and a security guard said, ‘What do you think you’re doing?’
“I told him I was having a quiet night in with my wife. I didn’t realise Mark was hiding in there having chucked things out of the window.
“We had to pay a £100 fine and Mark got thrown out of the hotel and is now banned for life.”
